I should also stop by the SF Center for the Book
I’m in love

It’s official. I’m in love with San Francisco. Although, I do have to admit—this unusually gorgeous weather helps. I’d like to think we brought a a bit of sunshine with us from Los Angeles. To everyone in San Francisco… you’re welcome. Anyway, we are really loving our new city. Especially the food. I feel so inspired to cook with a more simplistic approach due to the fact that we are completely spoiled up here with incredibly fresh, locally grown/raised foods. For Valentine’s Day we kept it simple and intimate. We cooked at home and opened a bottle of red wine we received as a wedding gift from our dear friends Dave and Christine. Our menu included: avocado and crab salad with lemon dressing and maldon salt to start, followed by seared scallops topped with green olive tapenade, paired with a green salad. Acme bread for Jeff and Mariposa bread for me!
bubbly and such… xoxo

let’s make out

I’m getting ready for Valentine’s Day. Naturally, Jeff and I are going to cook a extra special dinner together tomorrow night. It’s something we LOVE to do, one of our favorite ways to spend time together. We teach, learn, share and enjoy every little detail during these moments when we cook together. I’m looking up some ideas for our meal and came across this post while browsing some of my favorite foodie blogs.
How do you like to spend your Valentine’s Day?

Our teeny tiny apartment is so cozy—especially with a fireplace. It’s interesting to see how your belongings and treasured pieces fit into a new space or which takes priority over another when you make a change. We love having a fireplace. We love having an outdoor space in San Francisco, which is hard to find (photo to come later). We were sad to part with the vintage stove we own (now in storage) but come to our surprise, we got lucky with another that already resided in our new place. Who knew? We have a great view, we get plenty of natural sunlight and we are living with a little less stuff. Our apartment is coming together quite nicely.

It’s feeling like winter today with light rain and gloomy skies, so I’ll take advantage of my new teapot I received as a gift from my in-laws for Christmas. Isn’t she pretty? Her whistle is even prettier.
A sea of green

Our place has just the right touch of detail and character—check out our kitchen table. I refinished it with a little sanding and a couple coats of stain and refurbished the cushions with rad, retro velvet in a seafoam greenish blue. It goes well with our Trina Turk rug in the entryway/kitchen/dining area.
It’s the perfect place to enjoy dinner with a bottle of wine and freshly picked vegetables from our CSA. Of course, followed by some dark chocolate.

Jeff just turned 35 and we celebrated with some friends at Hotel Biron, followed by a very late dinner at Zuni Café . On his actual birthday night we spent the evening together and had a romantic dinner at Delfina. I distinctly remember the squid, chicken, bottle of red wine from Loire Valley and the impeccable service. I highly recommend Delfina to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in the city.
Our new place feels like home! It feels wonderful and refreshing to settle in a new place. We are moving in quite nicely and getting to know the neighborhood well. The dishes are unpacked and our first CSA shipment arrives in 2 days!
